MAN will expand its logistics centre

MAN Truck & Bus plans to expand its logistics centre in Salzgitter, Lower Saxony. The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by representatives of the company and authorities, including the mayor of Salzgitter and the state secretary of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs. Operations at the new facility are scheduled to begin in mid-2025.

One of the reasons for the need to expand the warehouse is MAN's continued expansion of its zero-emission product range. The expanded logistics centre will focus on the development of electric-powered vehicles, which brings with it additional demand for components for electric vehicles, including batteries and their parts.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year and operations at the new facility are expected to start in mid-2025. The expansion will increase the logistics centre, which currently employs 800 people, by a quarter, reaching a total area of approximately 230,000 square metres.

"The logistics centre will ensure fast and reliable deliveries to customers worldwide. In future, we will also be shipping spare parts for our electric vehicles from here, including batteries and battery parts. This also strengthens MAN's position in Lower Saxony and Salzgitter itself," says MAN Production and Logistics Director Michael Kobriger.

At the moment, the logistics centre in Salzgitter supplies parts to workshops, major importers worldwide and MAN's five regional warehouses.
