DB Schenker and Ledvance expand partnership

DB Schenker and Ledvance, a company offering innovative lighting products and solutions, have decided to expand their area of cooperation to Poland. Currently, the logistics operator is responsible for the inland transport and distribution of shipments in 23 directions in Northern, Central and Eastern Europe and the import of Ledvance goods from China to Poland and the Czech Republic in ocean transport.

Tailor-made solutions

One of the key solutions designed for the client was the creation of a dedicated Control Tower team. Its main task is to plan and organise the end-to-end distribution process, while ensuring efficient communication between the operator, Ledvance and the contract logistics provider. This team also oversees all documentation, the shipment advancement process, invoicing, reporting and the effective resolution of ongoing operational issues. This unusual approach guarantees the highest quality of service and reliability of the logistics processes.

"Ledvance is a company that DB Schenker has been working with for years in Germany. I am delighted that we have been able to extend our business partnership to Poland. All the more so because the customer's expectations in terms of delivery times, the elimination of shipment damage and process reliability required us to implement dedicated solutions. Our teams rose to the challenge by showing tremendous flexibility and commitment. The full implementation of the project was spread out over time, but the first shipment was dispatched just four months after the decision to cooperate was taken," says Władysław Kiczak, VP Head of Land Cluster North East Europe at DB Schenker.

The importance of a sustainability strategy

The decisive factor that influenced the cooperation between the companies was the common ESG strategy and the clearly defined environmental goals that are crucial for the client. The DB Schenker terminal in Wrocław, responsible for coordinating transport operations for Ledvance, is BREEAM-certified and an integral part of the operator's network of so-called green terminals. In addition, the introduction of shortened routes in the proposed transport model will contribute to lower CO2 emissions.

"At Ledvance, we make every decision based on our principles, i.e.: striving for excellence, winning together and exploring new opportunities.Ledvance Transport has been and continues to be a key link in our organisation enabling us to fulfil these promises. It is therefore a logical step to partner with companies that also strive to operate according to these principles on a global and local level to create meaningful value for our customers, the environment and our employees. DB Schenker and Ledvance have taken on this challenging project and successfully implemented it as partners," says Theresa Reis, Head of Transport Europe, Ledvance
